January 2003 feature photo on SCCC Home Page
Introducing the most talked about car on all the Camaro websites. California Highway Patrol's 2002 arctic white Chevrolet Camaro Z28 A4. This car features the B4C "special services package." Notice the Z28 emblem and door side moldings have been deleted. Also, 12 holes have been drilled on both sides of the front bumper for the sirens. |
Inside CHP's LS1
The inside of the 2002 A4 isn't much different from the civilian's LS1. Notice the radio panel has been replaced with their dispatch system. Also notice the steering wheel radio controls have been deleted.

Under the hood of the CHP LS1
This 2002 A4 displays the LS6 intake manifold. Notice the heavy duty wiring on the left side to accomodate the patrol electronics. The B4C package includes a higher rated alternator for this purpose. This particular vehicle does not have ASR. |
CHP Introduces its "stealth" light bar
Only 4" in height, this clear light bar can barely be seen by motorists. When activated, its a different story, the lights are more powerful than all previous CHP used light bars.

Officer Mo Baker California Highway Patrol
Dedicated to "Safety and Service", the California Highway Patrol uses the Camaro Z28 primarily for commercial vehicles, but you can bet, when one's available, they'll be on our local freeways as well. SCCC would also like to thank Officer Mo Baker for joining its members at the January meeting. |
"Pony Killer" meets "King LS1"
CHP parks its car along the passenger side of Christian Mejia's "Pony Killer."

"A Bunch of Chevys at CHEVY's II"
Saturday, January 19, 2003 opened the new year for the Southern California Camaro Connection by returning to Chevy's Fresh Mex in Ontario Mills. |
This is how it will appear in the rear view mirror, just before the new light bar is powered up.
Thanks to SCCC member Allyn Arps for providing this low level camera position. It showed a driver's view, and captured the excitement and interest when the CHP LS1 first pulled into the parking lot.
